Lawn Maintenance
A beautiful lawn doesn’t happen by accident. It takes consistency, the right approach, and an understanding of what your grass needs to thrive. At Corona Lawns, we know that a well-maintained lawn not only looks great but also cools the environment, creates usable space for your family, and adds lasting value to your property.
Factors That Impact Your Lawn ✅
The type of grass planted
The microclimate where it grows
The condition of the soil
The quality and frequency of maintenance
And much more behind the scenes of your yard
Grass is forgiving, and small positive steps can lead to big results. Irrigation provides the water, fertilization and sunlight provide the food, and mowing keeps everything in balance while promoting healthy growth.

Common Questions About Our Lawn Care Packages
-
During the growing season (March–October), we offer weekly or bi-weekly service. In the off-season (November–February), you can choose weekly, bi-weekly, or every-four-weeks service. Weekly mowing is recommended for the healthiest lawn, especially if you fertilize regularly.
Note: If you select the every-four-weeks option in the off-season and your yard has significant leaves, a separate leaf clean-up fee will apply at each visit. This fee is based on the condition of your lawn upon arrival and is typically more expensive than staying on a bi-weekly plan.
-
Weekly mowing reduces stress on your lawn. Each cut removes only a small portion of the grass blade, which minimizes damage and keeps your lawn thick and green. Longer intervals force a larger cut each time, causing more stress and making lawns more vulnerable to weeds and disease.
-
Every lawn is a little different depending on grass type, soil health, and weather conditions, but in general:
Growing season: March through October
Off-season: November through February
-
Un-mowed grass is just grass — mowing transforms it into a lawn. Regular mowing promotes the growth of dense “turf,” which holds soil in place, chokes out weeds, and can handle wear and tear. Cutting grass keeps it at the right height so sunlight reaches all areas, encouraging even, healthy growth.
At Corona Lawns, we sharpen our mower blades weekly to reduce stress on your lawn. Our mulching blades shred grass clippings into fine particles, allowing them to break down quickly and return nitrogen-rich nutrients to the soil.
-
Edging trims horizontal grass growth along sidewalks, driveways, and planting beds. It keeps lawns looking sharp and prevents grass varieties like Centipede, St. Augustine, and Bermuda from spreading into beds. For grasses like Zoysia, edging creates a clean look while barriers stop underground spread.
-
If mowing is consistent but your lawn is still struggling, the issue may be with water, soil, or sunlight. Start by checking your irrigation and fertilization program. If those are in place, consider:
✓ Aeration to reduce soil compaction
✓ Top dressing with compost to improve soil health
✓ Replacing your sod with a grass type better suited to your environment
✓ Removing obstacles like trees that block sunlight
✓ Running a soil test or checking for insects and fungus
